NTU and German scientists turn memory chips into processors to speed up computing tasks
They figured out how to give ReRAM more than 2 (binary) states. Very cool … except they keep talking about the 4 states they can now support as a “ternary” number system, and the ability to get these RAM (memory) chips to also do computations as “ReRAM-based Ternary Computing”.
Decimal == “Base 10 == 0, 1, 2, 3, …, 9
Ternary == “Base 3″ == 0, 1, 2
Quaternary == “Base 4″ == 0, 1, 2, 3
Shouldn’t it be “ReRAM-based Quaternary Computing”? Or, as everything else on the planet, has science truly given up on fact checking?
